SMA Hosts a ZOOM Neighborhood Meeting about the proposed Cerrillos Cell Tower on Camino Querencia
Wednesday, April 30 at 5:30 PM via ZOOM
(link below)
Many of you may have heard about a proposed cell tower to be built on Camino Querencia. The Neighborhood Meeting held at the State Park Visitor Center some time back was intended to inform the public about Pinnacle Consulting, Inc. plans. Pinnacle was not able to actually complete its presentation at that meeting, so The San Marcos Association (SMA) was left with many questions. To help the community, we will be hosting another neighborhood meeting via ZOOM concerning this tower. Our meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 30, beginning at 5:30 PM, and everyone who is interested in learning more about this project is encouraged to attend. The ZOOM Link and related details are below.
SMA’s meeting will consist of a presentation by Pinnacle, followed by a facilitated Q&A to answer questions that participants have posted in the Chat. There will be no provision for participants to speak. This is an opportunity to learn about the developer’s plans before the two County Hearings that will take place in May. It is important to remind everyone that there will be no decision-makers present at SMA’s ZOOM meeting – its purpose is for participants to listen and to learn. Then, once you have learned as much as you can about the actual plans for this tower, you may present your thoughts or concerns at the SLDC Hearing Officer’s Hearing on May 8, 2025; and/or the County Planning Commission (CPC) Hearing currently scheduled for May 15. They are the County decision-makers; in particular, the CPC makes the final decision. So, those hearings are the venues in which members of the public should make their feelings known.
The San Marcos Association has taken no formal position on this proposal. It has benefits and drawbacks; it has the potential to help our community but may also have adverse effects. Discussions concerning siting a cell tower in or near Cerrillos have been ongoing for many years and SMA provides this opportunity to our community in the hopes that conversations about this proposal are well informed.
SMA provides this notice as information for our community. This is an important issue, so by all means, feel free to post this email on social media or to forward it to anyone you think might be interested.
